Processor
The Expeditor has two onboard VIA Mini-ITX MII mainboards with VIA C3 Processors running Windows XP and built to run on 12V.
Power
The main power source will be gasoline; that is what will power the engine. An alternator will be used to convert the kinetic energy generated by the engine into electricity, which will charge a 12V battery. This will power all the electronics.
Sensors
Expeditor is equipped with a camera for obstacle avoidance and road following, and a Magellan SporTrak GPS will be used to stay on course. Dead reckoning is used to find position in between GPS fixes.
Vehicle
Our vehicle is based after an ATV. It's rear suspension uses a monoshock and a swingarm, and it has independant front a-arm suspension. A 13hp engine drives the rear wheels through a continuously variable transmission and forward/neutral/reverse gearbox.
Software
Neural networks will be used for image processing. Other programs will decide, based on the neural networks' outputs, GPS data, and other information, what actions Expeditor should take.
